1. About This Website

Veterans-near-you.com (the "Site") is operated by its founder as an unincorporated individual business based in Montréal, Québec, Canada (the "Operator," "we," "us," or "our"). The Site is currently in a beta/testing phase and provides a platform for connecting veteran teams, veteran-owned businesses, and veteran communities across the United States.

This Site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Affairs Canada, any branch of the U.S. or Canadian military, or any government agency.

2. Eligibility

By using this Site, you represent and warrant that:

• You are at least 18 years of age
• You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
• Your use of the Site does not violate any applicable laws or regulations in your jurisdiction
• Any information you provide is accurate, current, and complete

Use of this Site is void where prohibited by law.

3. Use of the Site

3.1 Permitted Use

You may access and use the Site for lawful purposes, including to create and manage a veteran team profile, connect with other veterans and veteran-owned businesses, and access resources and community information provided on the Site.

3.2 Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including falsely claiming veteran status
• Use the Site to harass, threaten, or harm other users
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its systems
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to extract data without prior written consent
• Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or any content that could damage the Site or its users
• Use the Site for commercial solicitation not expressly permitted by the Operator
• Impersonate any person, organization, or government entity
• Violate any applicable federal, state, provincial, or local laws

4. User Accounts and Content

4.1 Account Responsibility

If you create a profile or account on the Site, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use at: contact@veterans-near-you.com.

4.2 User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Site ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant the Operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Site. You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this license.

4.3 Content Standards

User Content must not be defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable. We reserve the right (but not the obligation) to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or that we deem inappropriate, at our sole discretion.

5. Disclaimer Regarding Veteran Information and Resources

The information provided on this Site, including any references to veterans' benefits, programs, services, or organizations, is for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute legal, financial, medical, or benefits advice.

We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any information on the Site. Veterans and their families should independently verify all information and consult qualified professionals or official government sources (such as VA.gov) before making decisions based on content found on this Site.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site created by the Operator — including text, graphics, logos, and software — is the property of the Operator and is protected under applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without prior written permission.

User Content remains the property of the respective users. Third-party trademarks and logos referenced on the Site belong to their respective owners.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may contain links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party services. These third parties operate independently and have their own privacy policies and terms of use. We do not endorse, control, or accept responsibility for any third-party content or practices. Your interactions with third-party services are solely between you and those third parties.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

8.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID (IF ANY) TO USE THE SITE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

8.3 Beta/Testing Phase

The Site is currently in a beta/testing phase. Features may be incomplete, temporarily unavailable, or subject to change without notice. We are not liable for any loss of data, functionality, or access resulting from the testing nature of the platform.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Operator and any associated individuals from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Site; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of another party.

11. Modifications to the Site and These Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Site at any time without notice. We also reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Québec and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Montréal, Québec, Canada.

Nothing in this clause limits your rights as a consumer under applicable mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.

13. Severability and Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Operator regarding the use of the Site and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
